Business Improvement District Consultants – Industrial Estate

In March 2009, pfbb UK Business Improvement District Consultants developed Brackmills Industrial Estate in Northampton as a Business Improvement District (BID). Situated just off the M1 its 730 acres makes it the largest industrial estate BID in the UK. The 150 businesses on the estate range from global brands such as Panasonic to National Distribution Centres such as Travis Perkins, financial services companies such as IPSL and international hi tech engineering companies such as Festo.

Our work as Business Improvement District consultants was essential in creating the BID proposal which gained an overwhelming vote in favour of 90% by number and 95% by value. It was one of the most successful votes of any industrial estate BID in the country generating a levy value of over £2 million over the five year life of the BID

pfbb UK also succeeded in winning the contract to project manage the BID employing a dedicated Estate Manager based on the Estate supported by the pfbb team in strategic and operational management.

Significant Achievements

Since establishing the BID it has achieved some outstanding results including:

• Installation of ANPR cameras on all access roads and CCTV monitoring on all lorry bays
• In its first six months of BID operation theft from lorries was reduced by 84%
• Funded a dedicated PCSO who in their first six months completed over 1,000 hour of street patrols and visiting over 60% of all businesses on the estate.
• Completed a £370,000 highway improvement scheme, under budget and on time, across estate reducing congestion and easing flow of traffic across the estate.
